About Sør Cup

It was Fløy, Vindbjart, Donn, Sparebanken Pluss and Kristiansand Dyrepark that established Sør Cup, then called Plussbank Cup, in 2007.  Together they established the company PlussbankCup AS – which today is called Sør Cup AS. A professional organization was established to ensure that PlussbankCup was a tournament characterized by high sporting quality and efficient execution. The goal was to become one of Scandinavia’s biggest and best annual football tournaments for children and young people, both on and off the pitch. With close to 600 participating teams, and many clubs coming back again and again, we’re getting close to meeting that goal. PlussbankCup was arranged for the first time in 2008. It is a continuation of the two football cups Color Line Cup and Garanti Cup (formerly Sebra Cup), and in the first year 365 teams from Norway and abroad participated.  In 2014, the tournament changed its name to Sør Cup as a result of a merger between Sparebanken Pluss and Sparebanken Sør, a bank that was then named Sparebanken Sør. The tournament has grown steadily over the past ten years, and in recent years has had close to 600 teams registered. We offer an excellent experience to players and families who choose to combine the cup with a holiday in Southern Norway, for example through a good collaboration with Dyreparken. Every year, we make it possible for thousands of participants and their families to combine cup life with a visit to Dyreparken.

Ownership

Sør Cup is organized as an AS, and is owned by the clubs Fløy, Vindbjart and Donn. When the tournament started in 2008, Sparebanken Pluss and Dyreparken were also owners, but they sold their shares to the clubs in 2011. Sparebanken Sør and Dyreparken have both been involved as general sponsors right from the start

Vision

Our philosophy is to give our participants Norway’s best cup experience – both on and off the pitch. It’s a philosophy that we take very seriously and that we work hard to fulfill. Quality should be reflected in everything we do, from the information brochure to the evaluation form after the tournament. The evaluation from 2016 shows that as many as 96% of respondents say they would consider recommending Sør Cup to others. In addition, NONE of them have had a negative encounter with any of our 1,500 volunteer workers and officials. As organizers of the Sør Cup, this makes us extremely proud, but there is no guarantee that we will get the same result the following year. That’s why we’re constantly focusing on improving, so that YOU have a fantastic experience in Kristiansand and Vennesla – year after year. We welcome your comments and feedback. If you have something you would like to share, please contact us. You can find contact info further down.
